We have been inspired by various artists including; U2, Coldplay, Sting, Pearl Jam and Kiwi artist Don McGlasson from the Muttons birds. Overall I guess the best way to describe the music is easy listening folk/rock with some hints of country influence.
The theme Salvation road was selected due to the story behind the song and its connection with a local Far North road. It was said that a devoted brethren man engraved John 3:16 on the Salvation road bridge last century and so the road was named.
This inspired the idea of the need to “turn down salvation road” which is the theme of the song. The vision behind this collection is to sing salvation songs to the lost.
James is a music teacher at the local area school as well the worship leader at Doubtless Bay Christian Centre, Mangonui. He has been performing for many years and loves to perform and lead people into worship. Steve is a lumberjack whose family has a very long history in the Far North region dating back to ship building in the early settlement period. Steve is also a very experienced performer and song writer and also plays on the worship team as a bass player and singer.
Steve’s daughter Abi Smith plays the drums and is a trainee butcher, Sue Breckon plays the keys and is also an experienced worship leader as well as music teacher.
The Salvation Road CD was produced and mixed down at the voice box by veteran Phil Yuld.
We hope you enjoy this collection and are inspired to know God more.
